Book online

Remember to book your kayak online for your descent of the Semois! Quick, easy, and no prepayment required. Reserve your spot today!

Booking – Secure your kayak in advance

Booking your kayak isn’t mandatory, but it’s highly recommended to ensure the best possible experience.

Why book in advance?

Important

Depending on demand, you might need to book up to 10–15 days in advance, even outside peak season.

Book as soon as your dates are confirmed to avoid disappointment.

Protection from sun and weather

In sunny weather

Sunlight and water reflections can be intense, even on cloudy days. Protect yourself with:

Water-resistant sunscreen
✅ Hat or cap (essential for children)
Sunglasses with a strap to avoid losing them

Bring a waterproof jacket and warm clothing
Don’t forget dry clothes for after your trip

How to find us easily?

To avoid confusion, enter our address directly into your GPS:

Kayaks La Vanne – Rue Léon Henrard, 10 – 5550 Alle-sur-Semois (Belgique)

Download our route map in advance to avoid connection issues on the road.

Respect nature – Keep the Semois clean

The Semois is a protected river. Please help us care for it:

Do not throw waste

into the river or along the banks

Use the waterproof bucket

provided to store your waste

Bins are available

upon your return to our base

What clothing to wear for kayaking?

Kayaking is a water sport; getting a bit wet is normal. Here are our recommendations based on weather:

Warm weather

Wear shorts and a breathable T-shirt

Swimsuit under your clothing is practical

Bring dry clothes for afterwards

Cooler weather

Choose leggings or quick-drying trousers

Wear a windbreaker jacket to protect against splashes

Rainy weather

Bring a waterproof jacket and warm clothing

Pack dry clothes to change into after the descent

Tip

Avoid jeans and cotton clothing, as they remain cold and uncomfortable when wet.

Which shoes are best for kayaking?

Avoid going barefoot! Some stones underwater can be sharp.

Recommended footwear:

Water sandals or old sneakers

Water shoes with anti-slip soles

Return by bus – Don't forget your phone!

If you’ve chosen a route with a bus return (Vresse, Membre, or Bohan), remember to bring at least one charged phone to call us upon arrival.

Tip

We provide free waterproof buckets to keep your phone and valuables safe and dry.

Cancellations – Please inform us promptly

We understand that unexpected situations or bad weather may arise. You can always cancel for free, without prepayment.

However, each reservation requires logistical organisation: we prepare the kayaks, arrange shuttles, and ensure adequate staffing. Last-minute cancellations can mean we’ve had to turn away other customers.

A small gesture makes a big difference

If you must cancel, please notify us as soon as possible. This helps us adapt and potentially allows others to enjoy the river.

Punctuality – Inform us if you’re delayed

We strive to provide a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone. That’s why it’s important to arrive at your scheduled time.

🙏 Thank you for your understanding and consideration.

What if you’re running late?

If you’re delayed by more than 30 minutes, please inform us by phone or email.

Without any notification, we reserve the right to rent your kayaks to other customers to avoid turning others away unnecessarily.

Low water level – You might need to get out and push the kayak in some places 😊
